Like other recruitment agencies in London, we can’t wait until we’re properly seeing people back in the office again — it’s been a long time! We’re thankful that we’ve been able to keep placing candidates in office support roles, particularly temporary ones, throughout the last year, but like you, many of us just want to get back in the office!
So, just for fun, we thought we’d ask a selection of you what you’re most looking forward to about being back in the office.
Ease, ease, ease!
“I’m so fed up of everything taking 10 times longer to do,” admits Tobias. “I’m glad I can work from home, but everything seems to take loads of extra steps. If I need to talk to someone, for instance, I have to actively contact them rather than just lean over my chair! It’ll be so good to just go back to more straightforward ways of communicating.”
“Managing people remotely is quite trying,” says Subomi. “I feel like I don’t have my eyes everywhere they need to be! I’m looking forward to being able to manage my team in person and getting the benefits of all the incidental interactions throughout the day.”
Culture and socialisation
James told us, “I’m most looking forward to being able to say “hello” to my colleagues in person again, grab a coffee together, and just have the odd bit of office chat. It makes each day so much more vibrant.”
“I’m looking forward to going out after work again,” says Akuko. “I know it won’t be the same as before, but I can’t wait to head out with my colleagues after work on a Friday to one of London’s pop-ups and get to feel like I really know them again. I feel like we’ve all become quite separated over the last year.”
London life
Many of you are looking forward to being back in London. Lou said, “I can’t wait to feel the buzz of working in London again. I want the pace back and the energy that you get from working in such a busy and lively city.”
“I agree”, says Rachel. “I miss everything about working in London, including my commute! I want to grab my coffee from a barista who knows me; I want to pop out for lunch and walk along the South Bank, and I want to feel like I’m part of something in a cosmopolitan city, not just stuck in my lounge. I’ll be so excited to be back in on the first day we’re allowed!”
