So, you’ve bagged an interview for a PA job in London—congratulations! Now comes the part where you need to dazzle the interviewer with your skills, experience, and personality. To help you prepare, we've rounded up five common PA interview questions along with expert answers to help you shine:

"Tell me about yourself."

This classic icebreaker question-that’s-not-a-question is your chance to give a snapshot of who you are beyond your CV.

Keep it concise yet informative, focusing on relevant experience, skills, and what motivates you. But it’s also a chance to let your personality shine through For example, "I'm a highly organised and proactive individual with five years of experience supporting C-suite executives in fast-paced corporate environments. I thrive on managing multiple priorities and delivering exceptional administrative support." Answer enthusiastically and with complete confidence that you have what they are looking for.

"How do you prioritise your workload?"

As a PA, juggling multiple tasks is par for the course. Demonstrate your ability to stay organised and focused by outlining your prioritisation method. For instance, "I start by assessing deadlines and urgency levels, then I break tasks down into manageable chunks. I utilise tools like to-do lists and calendar reminders to ensure nothing slips through the cracks." The interviewer wants to know that their priorities are in trusted hands with you, so also include how you learn about your executive’s priorities.

"Can you give an example of a challenging situation you've faced as a PA and how you handled it?"

Employers want to know how you cope under pressure and overcome obstacles. Choose a challenging scenario that highlights your problem-solving skills and resilience. For example, "During a major corporate event, our keynote speaker cancelled last minute. I remained calm, quickly sourced an equally impressive replacement, and coordinated all necessary arrangements seamlessly, ensuring the event's success." Again, this is a chance to show off your unflappable personality in all situations, not just when things are going smoothly.

"How do you handle confidential information?"

Confidentiality is paramount in the role of a PA, especially when dealing with sensitive information. Assure the interviewer of your discretion and integrity. Say something like, "I understand the importance of maintaining confidentiality at all times. I adhere to strict protocols, such as password protecting documents and only discussing sensitive matters with authorised individuals." Make it clear that you respect the importance of discretion.

"Why do you want to work for our company?"

This question tests your knowledge of the company and your genuine interest in the role. Demonstrate your research and enthusiasm by highlighting specific aspects of the company that appeal to you. For instance, "I'm drawn to your company's reputation for innovation and commitment to employee development. I'm excited about the opportunity to contribute my skills to a dynamic team." Try to draw on specific things you’ve learned about the company when you were doing your research

Preparing for PA interviews
