What’s It Like Job Hunting at the Moment?

At our London recruitment agency, we’re aware that if you’re looking for work at the moment, you might feel apprehensive about finding something suitable. You may be considering staying put when you’d hoped now would be the time to find a new role. You may have recently been made redundant and worry that securing a new role will be a long and difficult process. If so, read on to discover the experiences of candidates we’ve helped recently and learn what it’s really like out there.

Jake: First graduate role

Jake’s recently started as a marketing assistant at a corporate firm. He’s currently working from home but hopes to move into the office soon. “I had an unusual end to university and thought I wouldn’t find a job in my chosen sector,” he told us. “But I registered with Love Success and quickly found this opportunity. I had a couple of video interviews and had to work on a set task. I’m so pleased I’ve got the job as I want to build my career in marketing. It’s tricky learning the ropes from home, but everyone’s been very supportive.”

Mandy: The career move

Mandy works in the financial sector and is ready to take the next step. “Lots of people have told me that now isn’t the time to change jobs, but I disagree,” she says. “It’s about finding the right job. I’m happy to take my time. I’ve been surprised by how many London-based office support jobs Love Success have. They’ve put me forward for a few I’m interested in and now I’m just waiting to hear.”

Lisa: Looking for a job after redundancy

Lisa has been made redundant from her role as a credit controller. “I was worried when I was first made redundant, but now I feel okay,” she explains. “My employer was really good and let me work when I was on furlough, so I’d already done some temping through Love Success. That made it easy for me to move onto their permanent candidate list. My consultant has been very supportive and helped me realise that I can see this time as an opportunity. I’m really grateful for her help.”

Jamal: The change of mind

“I used to think my company was alright,” says Jamal, who works in payroll. “But with lockdown, I saw a different side of them. Other companies seemed supportive of their staff and helped them work from home as quickly as possible. Ours was one of the last to stop people working in central London when they could have switched to homeworking sooner. Their communication during lockdown was pretty poor too, which made life difficult because of managing so many changes to payroll. Employees were being furloughed then brought back. When my colleague was told to work despite being furloughed, I lost respect for the company and decided I wanted to leave. I registered with Love Success and I’m so pleased I did. They’ve helped me rework my CV and now I’m ready to start looking at jobs.”
