Are you stuck in a rut at work? Maybe you don’t feel challenged or are looking for ways to breathe new life into work? Whether you work in office support jobs, receptionist roles, or PA jobs—at our leading London recruitment agency we can help make work feel like less of a chore with our top tips on enjoying your job!

Take on a challenge

If your job involves doing the same tasks each day, it can get a little dull. However, you can make your job more fun by embracing a challenge. Ask your boss whether they can shake things up by swapping duties within the team or give you a challenging task to complete. For example, if you work in a team assistant job, you may be able to take on some PA-level tasks.

Keep it fresh

As they say, “a change is as good as a rest”. It’s easy to get bored when you do the same thing over and over again, so where you can, mix it up. Change your routine in the areas you have control over—such as rearranging your desk, walking a different way to work, trying out new office outfits, or speaking to colleagues you’ve never spoken to before. It’s surprising how much of an impact little changes can have on your mood.

Plan time off

If a change isn’t enough, you may well need a rest! It can be difficult to enjoy your job if you’re exhausted and you may need time off to recuperate. If you work in a challenging EA job and haven’t taken time off for a while, then book a week off and plan something relaxing, such as a holiday or catching up with friends. Taking a step back can help remind you what you love about your job.

Get moving!

If your job involves sitting in the same place for long periods of time, such as EA or PA jobs, make sure you get up and move around regularly. Try to get some fresh air during your breaks if you can. You can also improve your enjoyment at work by improving your health outside work. Exercising improves mental wellbeing, so head to the gym or a class in the evenings or before work.

Refocus

If you’re stuck in a rut, refocus and consider what you want to achieve in the short and long term. Do you plan to work your way up in the company or see yourself moving elsewhere? Draw up various term to-do lists and put targets in place to achieve them. This can improve your motivation at work.

Time to move on?

If all else fails, it may be time to think about moving on to develop your career and realise your potential.
