Job Description

Our client, a Global Management Consultancy is looking for an excellent marketing and communications manager with solid writing, project management and stakeholder management skills who can effectively influence and collaborate across their business to manage the Marketing + Communications (M+C) required to integrate recently acquired companies into our business in the most collaborative way possible.

The ideal candidate must not only quickly understand and analyse complex information and communicate to support these deals, but also be inspired by working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment while remaining calm under pressure and collaborating effectively across multiple teams.

This role will manage the integration of a number of acquired companies simultaneously and manage and drive different teams of M+C professionals who come together to support each acquired company. Communications and stakeholder management are critical skills for this role.

Position Responsibilities:

Support marketing activities for acquired companies after acquisition - throughout the post-merger integration (PMI) phase to ensure an integrated and collaborative future. Sometimes this role will serve as the M+C workstream lead and sometimes this role will serve in a secondary support role while another team leads the workstream. A separate individual will be responsible for the acquisition phase itself.

Typical Post Merger Integration (PMI) responsibilities as M+C Workstream Lead include:

Post-merger integration typically lasts 12 to 18 months. Requirement is to create a more blended plan, joint approach to integrate the acquisition into the business, and ensure that we maximise the opportunity that the acquisition provides.

  • Review all Due Diligence M+C information, including marketing plans, assets and materials if role did not manage deal and is taking over in PMI phase.
  • Attend regular PMI calls and present M+C updates as appropriate.
  • Work with the appropriate teams to ensure Acquired company's websites, clients comms, etc. are compliant with the company's global Data Privacy and GDPR policies and requirements.
  • Work with Acquired company Marketing lead/team to update the Acquisition's M+C digital and print assets and touchpoints, including things such as boilerplate(s), templates (presentations, sales materials, etc.), business cards, merchandise, signage, etc. and to create a blended plan
  • Schedule and conduct an M+C Workshop to kick-off brand and marketing integration and share current strategies; plans; budget information; and any current committed activities (e.g. retainers, sponsorships, etc.) and upcoming renewals, and agree a series of milestones and KPIs.
  • Build, manage and execute a coordinated M+C integration strategy and plan of internal and external activities and assets, including thought leadership, case studies, events, social, digital, sales and sales support materials in collaboration with the acquired company's Marketing lead and Business Leadership.
  • Work with UKI Leadership to ensure that information and assets are created for internal education about key acquisitions.
  • Integrate key Acquisition leadership into media and external branding strategy to maximise opportunities - continuing a leader-led approach.
  • Proactively track and update all M+C activities associated with PMI phase, manage associated agreed budget, and track progress of the agreed brand strategy against agreed milestones and measures of success.

Preferred Experience:

  • General marketing and communications experience.
  • Solid project management skills required.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills required.
  • Experience working on a global team across multiple time zones is desired.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years' experience in marketing and communications, preferably with some experience in the technology; experience in applying marketing concepts; branding and message development skills.
  • It is important to note that this role requires flexibility to work outside of normal business hours, especially around crunch phase of deal such as launch day and pre-scheduled global meetings.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. The ability to present and communicate ideas clearly and persuasively at all levels to multiple audiences including employees, leadership and acquired company employees.
  • Strong organisation, programme and time management and skills, with a demonstrated ability to meet milestones, tight deadlines and communicate status on concurrent projects.
  • Excellent negotiation, influence, mediation, conflict management and executive stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to participate in virtual meetings outside of regular business hours to accommodate other time zones.
  • Sensitivity to the cultural variances across different countries.
