Job Description

Our client are a global publishing firm who are looking for a Senior Editor to join their dynamic and growing team.

This role would suit an experienced Editor , who is looking for a long term contract. Due to the global element of the role, this position is Monday - Friday 12 - 9.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Proof and edit content across the business to ensure that it is clean, concise and accurate;
  • Ensure the compliance workflow is maintained to a uniform set of standards
  • Ensure corrections are avoided and the copy is easy to understand.
  • Check data is presented consistently and accurately.
  • Ensure the copy is factually accurate and legally sound.
  • Look beyond cosmetic issues in the copy and ask more searching questions. For example, is the story balanced? Could it do with more context?
  • Ensure the copy is formatted correctly for publication.
  • Complete work quickly and to deadlines.
  • Keep accurate and comprehensive records of corrections prevented by your editing.

Skills and Behaviours

  • Proven ability to copy edit to a very high standard
  • Ability to edit copy quickly while maintaining accuracy levels
  • Confident when dealing with figures, such as those found in financial reporting.
  • Proven ability to work well in a global team, handle change and deal with ambiguity
  • Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written form and ability to collaborate remotely to work with other business functions and geographies.
  • Experienced in working cross-functionally to create high performance organisations and passionate about a world-class customer experience
  • Ensure best practices are followed, understand legal and compliance requirements and ensure adherence to all relevant policies and procedures
  • Proven online and print experience in a busy copy editing environment with knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign and content management systems.
  • Curious about everything, willing to ask questions and challenge the status quo in order to provide better customer, employee and business outcomes
  • Driven, passionate, motivated individual
